Send to Opera

Instructions

First, install Opera Mini and enable the Text Wrapping setting.

Then:

  1. Come back to this page in Safari.
  2. Bookmark it by clicking Add Bookmark.
  3. Backspace over the words “I Like Stuff” at the end so you’re left with just the words Send to Opera.
  4. Click Done.
  5. Go to your bookmarks by clicking the bookmark icon.
  6. Click Edit.
  7. Click the Send to Opera bookmarklet that you just created.
  8. Change the URL to:

javascript:location='o'+location;

Presto

Now whenever you’re reading a page in Safari whose text is too wide, if the Reader icon is not available, you can just:

  1. Open your bookmarks.
  2. Click Send to Opera.

Then you can read the page in peace, without having to scroll horizontally.

    1. I don’t know. Maybe there is a typo in your bookmarklet? Make sure every character is correct. The “ohttp” protocol is what makes it go to Opera, so the letter “o” in quotes is critical.

  1. BTW: Is there a way to tweak Flipboard to go to Opera instead of Safari? It prompts to “show on the web”, but also does not always wrap the text. You then have the option to “Show in Safari”. Then, you can to to Opera with your trick, but that’s a long way. A shortcut would be welcomed.
